Dr Paul Akerman is a graduate of The George Washington University School of Medicine and completed his gastroenterology training at The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Dr. Akerman completed advanced endoscopic training at the University of Toronto, Wellesley Hospital. Following his training Dr. Akerman was the Director of Endoscopy at Rhode Island Hospital for 12 years and currently is the Director of Advanced Endoscopy. Dr. Akerman was a founder of the Boston International Live Endoscopy Course and the inventor of Spiral Enteroscopy. Dr Akerman has over 120 peer reviewed papers and abstracts and has participated in over 60 endoscopy courses.
Dr Akerman is currently the Chief Medical Officer for multiple medical device companies, founder of a medical device distributorship and founder of a Venture Capital Fund, Magpie Med Tech Ventures.
